What is Google Fonts?
Fonts is a catalog of typefaces for design and development. It helps you inspect families and choose styles for a project. Browsing the catalog is separate from loading a font in a website or installing it in a local design environment.
Open the right destination
You can use the public entry point without an account for basic browsing or the available public tool. Sign in when you need account-based features or when the selected action asks for it.
Before you start
Your first useful task
- Search for a family or explore an appropriate category.
- Preview realistic headings and body text in the required weights.
- Review the family’s license and obtain the files or web-embedding instructions.
A practical way to use Google Fonts
Test real content rather than only a short specimen word. Check readability at small sizes and the characters your audience needs. Limit the number of families and weights to keep a website’s typography and loading requirements manageable.
Troubleshooting
A chosen font does not appear on your website.
Inspect the font-loading request, family name, available weights, and fallback styles. A font preview in the catalog does not mean the website has loaded it successfully.
Common questions
Do I need to log in to browse fonts?
The catalog can be browsed without an account. Installation, embedding, and licensing questions should be checked for the family and environment you choose.
Do I have to sign in first?
Public access and account features are different. Start with the Open button; if your chosen action needs an account, the destination will prompt you there.
Do I need an account with The Login Link?
No. This directory does not require registration. The Open button takes you to the service; any account credentials are entered there.
