What is Google Earth?
Earth is a visual environment for exploring locations through maps, imagery, and geographic context. It suits broad spatial exploration and presentations about places. The web experience differs from turn-by-turn navigation and from the developer-focused Earth Engine analysis platform.

You can use the public entry point without an account for basic browsing or the available public tool. Sign in when you need account-based features or when the selected action asks for it.

A practical way to use Google Earth
Record locations and the context of imagery when using a view in research. A visual impression should be checked against an appropriate current source if the question depends on recent conditions.
Troubleshooting
The globe loads slowly or controls do not work well.
Use a supported, updated browser and check graphics support and network conditions. Very restricted environments may prevent the interactive experience from working normally.
Common questions
Are the images live?
Do not interpret the imagery as a live feed. Check imagery information where available and use a current source when timing is essential.
Do I have to sign in first?
Public access and account features are different. Start with the Open button; if your chosen action needs an account, the destination will prompt you there.
Do I need an account with The Login Link?
No. This directory does not require registration. The Open button takes you to the service; any account credentials are entered there.
