What is Google Drive?
Drive stores files and provides the sharing layer behind many Google documents. It also contains uploads, folders, and shortcuts. Finding a file and having permission to open it are separate matters: a link can identify a document without granting your account access.
Open the right destination
Use the account associated with the work you want to open. If Google selects another account automatically, switch using its profile menu. Complete the destination’s identity checks and any required account setup.

Your first useful task
- Search by a distinctive filename or use the available file filters.
- Open the item and inspect who owns it and where it is stored.
- Choose the appropriate sharing role when inviting a collaborator, then send the actual file link.
A practical way to use Google Drive
Agree on one working copy before a team starts editing. Shortcuts can make a shared file easier to find without creating competing versions. For handovers, review ownership and shared-drive arrangements rather than relying on one person’s personal file list.
Troubleshooting
A shared link shows an access request.
Check the email address used in the invitation and switch accounts if necessary. Ask the owner to share with that address. Moving a shortcut into your own folder will not change the target file’s permissions.
Common questions
Does sharing a folder make every recipient an editor?
The role you grant matters. Review the sharing dialog and any inherited access before sending the link. Organization policies can also limit external sharing.
Why does the direct link still ask me to sign in?
The shortcut reaches the application entry point. It cannot carry your Google session between browsers, grant permissions, or bypass verification. Follow the sign-in instructions on the destination service.
Do I need an account with The Login Link?
No. This directory does not require registration. The Open button takes you to the service; any account credentials are entered there.
